Suppose, A is a person who is running a beauty parlour in Delhi must have a GST No. like XX XXXXXXXXXX 1 XX. The number highlighted is the number of registration done by taxpayer.

Now, If A is thinking to start another business in Delhi that is extremely different from the business already running then, A has to apply for another GST No. as the business is changed. In this Case, the GSTIN will be XX XXXXXXXXXX 2 XX. The number highlighted means that A has started another business and it’s the 2nd registration done by him.

Similarly, if A thinks to open a restaurant in Delhi itself, then in the GSTIN, the number of GST Registration shall be 3. Like XX XXXXXXXXXX 3 XX.

Where the state code is changed, the new GST Number is provided to the taxpayer.

Hope, this information is useful for every taxpayer who has a GST Number and  is registered under GST.
