Step 1 : Visit the MCA Portal

Step 2 : After coming to the portal of MCA, the MCA menu bar shall be displayed in front of your screen. From the menu bar, select “MCA Services”.

Step 4 : Company services option shall give you the option of “Check Company Name”.

Step 5 : Fill in the option of Company/LLP Name which is a compulsory option to fill.

Step 6 : The following information shall be displayed by filling the Company/LLP Name.

• LLPIN/CIN/Form INC-1 Ref No.
• Company/LLP Name
• State
• Incorporation Date
• Company Name Status

One of the two option shall be displayed under the Company Name Status.

1. Reserved – Company status reserved means that a company is no longer registered or has been removed from the register of companies.
2. Allocated – where the company name status is showing as “allocated” then it means that the company is already registered on MCA and you cannot get the same name for your company or LLP.

Check Trademark for your proposed name

MCA Company Name Check also provides for check trademark which you can yourself do.

Check Domain for your proposed name

Domain can also be checked for the proposed company on the mca portal “Check Company Name” option.

Every person checking for a company name must be fully aware of the prohibited words as given in Section 4(2) & 3 of the Companies Act 2013 and also read the Companies Act Rule 8 of the Companies (Incorporation) Rules 2014.

1. Name of the company must not be identical or similar to the existing company.

5. Where the name of the business is already trademarked, then you will be prohibited from using it even if the company’s operation is in another state.
